Martin Luther King Jr. Day Food Drive – Half-Price Admission

January 15

In the spirit of service this holiday, bring any non-perishable or canned food item and receive half-price admission to the Zoo during the Community Food Bank of Central Alabama Food Drive*. While you’re here, watch a sea lion demonstration, take a ride on the Red Diamond Express, the Protective Life Carousel and much more! *Limit one per guest. Cannot be combined with other offers.

Groundhog Day

All Alabamians want to know: will Birmingham Bill see his shadow or not? Join the Zoo for the annual Groundhog Day prediction at the Birmingham Zoo’s Schaeffer Eye Center Wildlife Stage and find out if we’ll have six more weeks of winter. Great Backyard Bird Count

February 17 @ 8:00 am - 2:00 pm

This annual event unites birdwatchers from across the globe as they track bird species found in their own backyards, parks and local spaces. Hear bird watching tips from Birmingham Audubon Society experts and take part in bird conservation activities in the Junior League of Birmingham –  Hugh Kaul Children’s Zoo and Alabama Wilds. Participants are invited to take part in the bird walk from 8am-10am and afterwards enjoy crafts and activities from 10am-2pm.

As a thank you for supporting the Zoo, current Members are invited to join us for a special Member Appreciation Morning on Saturday, March 3 from 8am-9am. During this hour, Members can explore the Zoo before it opens to other guests, enjoy free rides, and special breakfast treats in the Membership Office.
