Regular Zoo Hours

9am to 5pm –  Monday – Sunday

Train Rides

9am - 3:45pm — Every Day

Cost: $3

All aboard! Take a scenic ride through the Zoo on the Birmingham Zoo Express or the Red Diamond Express. You’ll learn about many of the Zoo’s animals and exhibits from the Zoo’s train conductor.

Carousel Rides

9am - 3:45pm — Every Day

Cost: $3

Take a spin on the Zoo’s animal-themed carousel. There are an array of animals to choose from – a giraffe, rhinoceros, gorilla, cheetah, frog, zebra and many more. Pick your favorite and enjoy the ride!

Giraffe Feedings

9:30 am - 11:30 am — Friday, Saturday, Sunday
1:00 pm - 3:00 pm — Friday, Saturday, Sunday

Cost: $3 plus tax

Children’s Zoo Contact Yard

10am - 12pm — Saturday, Sunday

Sea Lion Training Demonstration

10:00am — Every Day
2:00pm — Every Day

Schaeffer Eye Center Lorikeet Feedings

10am - 4pm — Saturday, Sunday
10am - 2pm — Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday

Hand feed the beautiful lorikeets in the Schaeffer Eye Center Lorikeet Aviary.

Cost: $1.50 plus tax for nectar

Full Moon BBQ Wild Slide

10am - 3:45pm — Saturday, Sunday

Cost: $3

Riders must be 4 years of age and 40 inches tall to ride

Jane H. Brock Soaring Safari Zipline Adventure

Schaeffer Eye Center Wildlife Show

Predator Zone (Lion Training)

11:30am — Saturday, Sunday

This exciting experience puts you face-to-face with African lions. Watch how the keepers care for the lions during this narrated presentation. Predator Zone features a training area where zookeepers and visitors are on the same level as the animals. See behind-the-scenes training that the keepers conduct on a daily basis to care for the Zoo’s lions.
