BIRMINGHAM ZOO ANNOUNCED 2025 EVENTS TO CELEBRATE 70 YEARS OF WILD

Your Birmingham Zoo plans to celebrate 70 all year long. Here are some of the events not to miss in 2025. Lewis Communications developed the 70th year mark and birthday campaign for the Birmingham Zoo.

 

Birmingham Zoo Birthday Celebration – Saturday, April 5 at 10:30 a.m.

Join the party as the elephants at the Birmingham Zoo enjoy a massive smash cake for the Zoo’s 70th birthday. The large cake will be in the elephant holding area and visible to media and guests when they get access to the party at 10:30 p.m. sharp. The birthday cake will feature some special elephant treats and an elephant care expert will be available for interviews. Great photo opportunity. The elephant giant smash cake event is included with Zoo admission. Media admission is free, but let us know if you are planning on attending.

 

Eggstravaganza Egg Hunt – Saturday, April 12th from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Join us for a fun-filled day of egg-citing adventures at the Zoo’s Eggstravaganza Egg Hunt! This family-friendly event is perfect for kids of all ages, with two separate hunts on Henley Lawn for ages 0-7 and 8-12. Bring your own basket and collect 10 eggs to turn in for a fun prize. Farm Day – Saturday, April 19 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Celebrate Alabama’s farming heritage and learn about how we care for our farm animals and conserve our local, native wildlife. Guests can create rural-themed arts and crafts, experience a sheep shearing by our Animal Care Professionals, meet local agricultural groups in the Junior League of Birmingham Hugh Kaul Children’s Zoo with interactive educational booths, and much more. Animal Care Professionals will perform husbandry and training demonstrations. These demonstrations will provide visitors with an opportunity to learn about the cultural and ecological significance of the Zoo’s heritage breed collection in the Children Zoo Barn. ‘Tails in the Trails – Friday, May 9th from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m.

Your Birmingham Zoo’s Junior Board invites you to join the party on the Trails of Africa at this outdoor celebration. The night will include music, animal encounters, small bites from area restaurants, beer, wine, specialty cocktails, and a silent auction.Purchase your tickets for this fabulous fundraiser benefiting ‘Fund Carlito’s Casa’! Your Birmingham Zoo’s Junior Board invites you to their 15th Annual Tails in the Trailsevent. ‘Tails in the Trails is presented by Novu Residential Group. Pancakes & Princesses – Saturday, May 31st

Enjoy a magical morning with a delicious breakfast and chance to meet and take photos with a host of beloved royals, along with some special animal friends. The fun continues all day long with ride wristbands and admission to the zoo.

 

Zoo Brews – Friday, June 6th

Experience more than 20 breweries from all over the southeast and tasty selections from local food truck vendors while you travel through the Zoo. Perfect for adults 21 and up, this event is a signature favorite!

 

Zoo Gala – Friday, September 26th

Mark your calendars for Zoo Gala 2025 as we celebrate 70 years of making memories at your Birmingham Zoo! Gala is an unforgettable evening filled with elegance, entertainment, exceptional cuisine, and majestic animals.

 

Hoots & Howls – October 11th, 12th, 18th, 19th, 25th, 26th

Join us for Hoots & Howls, a daytime Halloween festival of events. Trick or Treat around the zoo with our largest candy trail yet, participate in our costume contest parade, and enjoy an all day dance party on Henley Lawn.

 

Glow Wild – November 2025 to January 2026

Come see the Zoo lit up at night through the holidays. With larger-than-life animal lanterns, nightly performances, visits from special community guests, and a winter wonderland ride on the Protective Carousel and the Red Diamond Express Train, this Birmingham holiday tradition is one you don’t want to miss.

 

Breakfast with Santa – Saturday, December 13th

Head to the Birmingham Zoo for a morning filled with holiday cheer! Visit and take photos with Santa and enjoy a warm, delicious breakfast all in a festive atmosphere that’s sure to make spirits bright.

 

Zoo Year’s Eve – Wednesday, December 31st

Get an early start to 2026 with two Zoo Year’s Eve celebrations. The daytime and nighttime celebrations are family friendly events for those who may have trouble staying up until midnight. Complete with a 2026 lantern drop countdown and fun educational activities for the kids, let’s ring in the New Year together at your Birmingham Zoo.
