Adopt an Animal

ADOPT TODAY and become the proud parent of an animal at your Birmingham Zoo! When you symbolically adopt a Zoo animal, you help provide them with the food, healthcare, and enrichment activities they need to be healthy and happy. You also support our conservation program, which works to protect endangered species and their habitats.

Adopt an animal yourself or as a gift for a friend or loved one. Adoptions make great presents for holidays, birthdays, and other special occasions. Because your Zoo is a non-profit organization, a portion of your investment will be tax-deductible! You will receive a tax acknowledgment letter indicating the deductible amount of your kind donation.

IMPORTANT TO KNOW

• *Note same day pick-up is not available. Please indicate if you would like to pick up your stuffed animal at the Zoo or have it shipped. If you’d like a plush shipped, select your animal and select, “Add Plush Shipping Fee.” The shipping charge is $12 per plush.

• Please remember, Zoo animals may be temporarily off habitat. You may want to call before coming to the Zoo if you want to be sure the particular animal is on habitat the day of your visit.

• No ownership rights are conferred by this “adoption”. All animals stay at the Birmingham Zoo under the care of the Animal Department Staff.

• The Adopt An Animal Coordinator is in office Monday – Friday. If you purchase an Adopt An Animal package during the weekends, they will get back to you the following Monday!

• Please allow up to 2 weeks for your Adopt An Animal package to be processed.
