Thirteenth Annual Zoo Run at the Birmingham Zoo

The community is invited to register today and run wild through the Zoo this Saturday, May 5, 2018. The thirteenth annual Zoo Run 5k, organized each year by the Birmingham Chapter of the Association of Zoo Keepers, begins at 7:30am in the Zoo parking lot and finishes in the new Henley Park. Kids races begin at 8am in the Junior League of Birmingham – Hugh Kaul Children’s Zoo. All participants receive FREE admission to the Zoo, with the opportunity to purchase additional discounted admission tickets for family (good for day of the race only), a special t-shirt and more. The Zoo Run registration cost is $35 for the 5K and the Kids Race registration cost is $15.

Zoo Run proceeds will go towards the Global Conservation Corps, an organization that works in two ways to improve conservation in Africa. First is by supporting the Zululand Rhino Orphanage, and second is by helping to sponsor the future ranger program. Each registration funds one local child to attend the Future Ranger Program at the Timbavati Game Reserve in South Africa. This program aims to inspire passion for local wildlife, and aligns with the Zoo’s mission to Inspire Passion to Conserve the Natural World.

Kids Race Schedule:

Turtle Trot (ages 0-2yrs) – 8am
Chicken Cha Cha (ages 3-4yrs) – 8:10am
Skunk Skurry (ages 5-6yrs) – 8:20am
Coati Canter (ages 7-12yrs) – 8:40am
