World Rhino Day and Bowling for Rhinos This Weekend!

The Birmingham Zoo is gearing up for a weekend focused on rhino conservation with two special events, World Rhino Day on Friday, September 22 from 10am-2pm at the Birmingham Zoo and Bowling for Rhinos on Sunday, September 24 from 6pm-9pm at Vestavia Bowl.

The community is invited to enjoy special keeper chats on Friday at 10:30am, 11:30am and 1:30pm as well as learning stations throughout Trails of Africa and a special visit from Matt Lindenberg, founder of Global Conservation Corps and the Rhino Man project. Additionally, the Birmingham Chapter of the American Association of Zoo Keepers will be selling unique items and all proceeds will be donated to conservation. World Rhino Day activities are free for Zoo Members and are included in general admission for guests.

On Sunday, the Birmingham Chapter of the American Association of Zoo Keepers is presenting Bowling for Rhinos from 6-9pm at Vestavia Bowl. Tickets are $10 for children (12 & under) and $20 for adults, and include bowling, shoe rental, t-shirt, door prizes and silent auction. 100% of the proceeds go towards rhino conservation through the International Rhino Foundation and the Lew Wildlife Conservancy. The highest bowling score will receive a behind-the-scenes tour with the Zoo’s rhinos. Vestavia Bowl is located at 1429 Montgomery Highway, Vestavia Hills, Alabama 35216.
