This week, the Birmingham Zoo will host a grand opening celebration and dedication of the new Henley Park Event Lawn. The event will take place at 5:30pm on Thursday, September 7. Major supporters of Henley Park and friends of the Zoo will be recognized.
The opening of the Henley Park Event Lawn concludes Phase 1 of the Zoo’s Renew the Zoo Capital Campaign. Henley Park is named after Arthur C. P. Henley, the fourth great-grandson of Charles Linn and third great-grandson of John C. Henley, Sr., two of the founding fathers of the City of Birmingham. Arthur was instrumental in the formation of the public-private 501 (c)(3) status of the Birmingham Zoo in 1999.
Beginning September 8, Henley Park will be available for rentals for private events, and will be accessible to Zoo guests during the Zoo’s operating hours. The grand opening and dedication ceremony will be used to showcase this new venue at the Birmingham Zoo.
