Birmingham Zoo Announces 2015 Board of Directors and Officers

The Birmingham Zoo is pleased to introduce new members and welcome back former members to the Board of Directors and the Board Officers for the Zoo’s 60th anniversary year. The Board is composed of twenty professionals in the Birmingham area, who share the Zoo’s belief in “Inspiring Passion for the Natural World.” The Board welcomes one new member this year, Roddy McKinney. The 2015 Board Officers are Wally Nall, III, Chairman, Cissy Jackson, Vice Chairman, James Priester, Treasurer, David Loper, Secretary and Jesse Vogtle Jr., Immediate Past Chairman. The newly announced Board of Directors are Robert Aland, Minda Riley Campbell, Leigh Collier, Jack Darnall, Robin Sparks Davis, Nancy Collat Goedecke, Gaynell Hendricks, Anna James, Randall Jordan, Sandy Logan, Roddy McKinney, Laura Pitts, Oliver Robinson, Jr., Thomas E. Sisson and Steven Spencer. Paving the way in providing insight and innovative ideas as the Zoo moves towards the future is part of the board’s progressive goal. “The Birmingham Zoo appreciates these individuals and their efforts for inspiring passion for the natural world. I am grateful for their continued support in helping Alabama’s must see attraction thrive in this exciting 60th Anniversary year,” says Dr. William R. Foster, President and CEO of the Birmingham Zoo.

In addition to the Board of Directors, the Zoo’s new Junior Board has diverse backgrounds, and they all share a passion for the Zoo and its continued success. The officers are Erin Donohoo, President, Stephen Armstrong, Vice President, Bryan Coleman, Secretary, Matthew Hottle, Treasurer and Julie Herring, Past President, Advisor. The members are Ambre Amari, Frank Anderson, Jay Anderson, Bettina Boateng, Turner Burton, Lauren DeMoss, Courtney DeShazo, Joseph Dumontier, Dylan Ferniany, Joe Gribbin, Raymond Harbert Jr., Fontaine Haskell, Amanda Hawkins, Tim Hennesey, Alexandra Holdbrooks, Emily Jordan, Madison Merrill, Stacey Morales, Amy O’Brien, Javan Patton and Whitney Wright.

Approximately 950 animals of 230 species call the Birmingham Zoo home, including sea lions, zebras, rhinos and endangered species from six continents. The Birmingham Zoo is open daily from 9am to 5pm. Regular admission is $15* for adults and $10* for senior citizens and children ages 2-12 (*Price not including tax). All Birmingham Zoo Members and children under two-years-old receive free admission.
