Birmingham Zoo Supports Community with Half-Price Admission and Food Donation to United Way

The Birmingham Zoo invites the entire community to give back to those in need this holiday season. On Saturday, November 22 and Sunday, November 23, Zoo visitors can enjoy half-price admission by bringing any canned or non-perishable food item. On this particular weekend, guests who donate a food item to the United Way Food Bank will pay $7.50 (plus tax) for adults, $5 (plus tax) for senior citizens 65 years and older, and $5 (plus tax) for children 2-12 years old. Children under two-years-old are free. The Zoo requests that visitors bring one item per person to receive the discount.

The United Way Community Food Bank of Central Alabama serves people in need by securing and storing surplus food and household items to distribute these items through local partnering service agencies. β€œThe Birmingham Zoo strives to give back to the community. The annual United Way Food Drive is just one way that we support the community.” says Dr. William Foster, Birmingham Zoo President and CEO.

Approximately 950 animals of 230 species call the Birmingham Zoo home, including sea lions, zebras, rhinos and endangered species from six continents. The Birmingham Zoo is open daily from 9am to 5pm. Regular admission is $15* for adults and $10* for senior citizens and children ages 2-12 (*Price not including tax). All Birmingham Zoo Members and children under two-years-old receive free admission.
