The Birmingham Zoo Offers Free Admission to All Active and Retired Military in Honor of Veterans Day

In honor of Veterans Day, all active and retired military and their dependents will receive free admission to the Birmingham Zoo on Monday, November 10 and Tuesday, November 11 upon presentation of a valid military identification card. Guests are invited to ride the all-new, over 100-foot slide**. Visitors of all ages can slide on an inner tube at exhilarating speeds past their friends and family on this amazing new attraction near the Primate Building. Other Veterans Day activities include a chance to see the Zoo’s two newly rescued American black bear cubs, currently in their temporary exhibit in the Predator Building, upclose interactions with elephants at the Boma Yard in Trails of Africa and exciting sea lion training demonstrations. Guests can feed the colorful lorikeets at the Lorikeet Aviary*, ride the train* and carousel*, participate in a pelican feeding and much more.

Approximately 950 animals of 230 species call the Birmingham Zoo home, including sea lions, zebras, rhinos and endangered species from six continents. The Birmingham Zoo is open daily from 9am to 5pm. Regular admission is $15* for adults and $10* for senior citizens and children ages 2-12 (*Price not including tax). All Birmingham Zoo Members and children under two-years-old receive free admission.
