Birmingham Zoo’s Third Annual Tails in the Trails

The Birmingham Zoo’s Junior Board hosted its third annual spring event, Tails in the Trails presented by O’Neal Industries, on Thursday, May 9 th. Beginning at 5:30pm, over 245 attendees were greeted by a Greater Sulphur-crested Cockatoo, American alligator, Uromastyx lizard, groundhog and Great Horned Owl in the Junior League of Birmingham – Hugh Kaul Children’s Zoo. Guests were then invited to enjoy hors d’oeuvres by Southern Food Management featuring beef curry triangles, tomato-herb bruschetta, meatballs, Santa Fe rolls, spinach-artichoke dip, chicken satay skewers, as well as beer provided by Cahaba Brewing Company and cocktails. In addition to the food and drinks, guests enjoyed live acoustic music performed by Paul Sisson and The Great Book of John and the Zoo’s newest exhibit, Dino Discovery.

The Birmingham Zoo’s Junior Board strives to increase Zoo membership, assist with events and provide promotion of the Zoo. All proceeds from the event will support the Junior Board’s Feathers and Fur fund to benefit the animals at the Birmingham Zoo.
