Dino Discovery Roars into the Birmingham Zoo Just in Time for Spring Break

For Spring Break 2013, the Zoo, Alabama’s must-see attraction, invites the entire community to take part in all of the activities planned from March 16th to 30th . “We want visitors from all over to know that they don’t have to go far to enjoy Spring Break and what the Zoo has to offer,” says Katrina Cade, Vice President of Marketing and Media at the Birmingham Zoo. Dino Discovery presented by Wells Fargo will give visitors the opportunity to hear dinosaurs roar, see them move and take in a pre-historic experience. This exhibit will take guests on an expedition down a trail filled with magnificent creatures that once roamed the earth over 160 million years ago. Guests can search for fossils in the Dino Dig, explore the exhibit with a dino expert and even get their picture taken with a T-Rex. Once guests are in the Zoo, they can explore Dino Discovery for only $3 (plus tax) for members, $5 (plus tax) for non-members or guests can purchase an unlimited attraction wristband for only $8 (best value).

Back for Spring Break are favorites such as Predator Zone, the Red Diamond Sea Lion Splash Show, Wildlife Shows and much more. On March 23rd from 11am to 1pm, Get Rhythm® will provide a two hour interactive “community music-making experience” in Trails of Africa using drums and percussion from around the world. Visitors can take a memorable camel ride (additional charge) or simply view the camels as they move through the exhibit. Filled with bubbles and laughter are the Foam Zone (additional charge) and splash pad, which are located in the Junior League of Birmingham – Hugh Kaul Children’s Zoo. Giving spectators an up-close and interactive experience with a variety of animals, Wildlife Shows occur at the Wildlife Stage each day at 11:30am and 3pm.

Visitors can also enjoy interactive exhibits at the Children’s Zoo Otter Demo and Boma Encounter, as well as animal feedings at the Lorikeet Aviary and the Pelican Boardwalk. The Zoo suggests that members and guests check with Visitor Services for daily schedules and updates.
