It’s that time of year again! The Birmingham Zoo is looking for volunteers to make our annual Boo At The Zoo event, presented by Wells Fargo, a fun and exciting event for kids and families. It takes about 60 volunteers per night to make Boo At The Zoo a success! We would much appreciate your help in informing eligible students, teachers, friends, family members and others about these upcoming volunteer opportunities.
*Please Note: All shifts are from 4:00pm-9:00pm. We are not able to accommodate split shifts.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES – All positions are assigned the night of volunteering
The positions below are just some of the many opportunities during Boo at the Zoo:
Boo at the Zoo is an outdoor event. The month of October has unpredictable weather; temperatures drop after the sun goes down. What is comfortable at the sign-in time may not be warm enough for later in the evening. Please think about layered clothing, hats, gloves, and scarves to keep you warm. Volunteers may wear festive costumes but all attire must be family-friendly and no masks will be allowed for volunteers. If you have any questions please contact the volunteer department before the event.
DINNER AND VALUABLES
Please do not bring anything of value to the Zoo. The Zoo is not responsible for any lost items. The Zoo does not have a place to leave purses or other items. If you leave your items, you will have to be responsible for any losses. Please eat before you come to this event. You should have time for breaks but they may be at odd times due to scheduling.
If it is raining, please call the Zoo to inquire about the status of Boo At The Zoo at 205-879-0409.
