Birmingham Zoo Hosts COVID-19 Vaccination Day in Partnership with the Jefferson County Department of Health

Participants will receive two free admission tickets to the Zoo

BIRMINGHAM, AL – The Birmingham Zoo is proud to partner with the Jefferson County Department of Health (JCDH) to host a one day COVID-19 vaccination site at the Zoo. All members of the community age 12 and older are invited to the Zoo on Saturday, September 18 from 10:00 am until 12:00 pm to receive a free COVID-19 vaccine.

JCDH will be administering the Pfizer vaccine in the Zoo’s Learning Center and signage will be visible to direct participants. Proof of insurance is not required and no appointments are necessary to obtain a shot. The Pfizer vaccine is a two-shot series and participants receiving this shot will be given information on how and where to obtain the second dose.

Every participant receiving the vaccine will get two (2) free Zoo admission tickets to be used during daytime operating hours of 9:00 am to 5:00 pm on September 18 or until December 31, 2021 – tickets not valid for special events or programs. Parking at the Zoo is free. Face masks are required to be properly worn inside the Learning Center and during the entire vaccination process.

Updates and information about COVID-19 Vaccination Day at the Zoo will be announced via the Birmingham Zoo website at BirminghamZoo.com in the Zoo News section and on social media at Facebook.com/BirminghamZoo and Instagram.com/bhamzoo. For more information and questions about COVID-19, vaccines, and vaccination sites, visit the Jefferson County Department of Health website at jcdh.org/.

The Birmingham Zoo is thankful for all those in our community that have already been vaccinated! We are grateful that your choice to vaccinate is the reason your Zoo and so many other Birmingham venues and businesses can operate as we are today!
