This Labor Day weekend, August 30th – September 2nd, the Zoo invites the entire community to take advantage of the final days of Dino Discovery, presented by Wells Fargo. Now through September 2 nd , this prehistoric exhibit will allow guests to embark on an expedition down a trail featuring 15 life-size, animatronic dinosaurs, comb for fossils in the Dino Dig and even take a picture with a T-rex. On-site dinosaur experts will provide a chance to learn more about this extinct species and understand how it relates to the Zoo’s conservation efforts.
In addition to Dino Discovery, Labor Day weekend at the Zoo offers something for everyone to enjoy, including giraffe feedings at the Kiwanis Giraffe Encounter, up-close elephant interactions at the Boma Yard in Trails of Africa and special animal demonstrations at the Zoo’s Wildlife Shows. Guests can cool off in the Junior League of Birmingham-Hugh Kaul Children’s Zoo Splash Pads and Foam Zone, enjoy the thrill and excitement of the Red Diamond Sea Lion Splash Show, feed the lorikeets at the Lorikeet Aviary, take a train or carousel ride and much more. Guests will also want to make sure they stop by to see the butterflies at Granny’s Butterfly Garden before the exhibit closes for the season.
Admission to Dino Discovery is $3 for Members (plus tax) and $5 for Non-members (plus tax) in addition to Zoo admission. Wildlife Shows occur on the Wildlife Stage daily at 11am and 3pm.
