Birmingham Zoo Invites the Community to Enjoy $5 Fun Days the First Three Weekends in August

The Birmingham Zoo invites the entire community to experience $5 Fun Days on August 3rd -4 th, 10th -11th and 17th -18th . Visitors can take advantage of discounted $5 admission* during the first three weekends in August, enjoy $1 hotdogs at the Safari and Kudzoo Cafés, get their faces painted, watch the Red Diamond Sea Lion Splash Show, check out Predator Zone and the Wildlife Shows and enjoy a Get Rhythm!® Drum Circle. Guests can also visit Dino Discovery, now extended through Labor Day weekend, for a chance to hear animatronic dinosaurs roar and see them move. This limited-time exhibit is available for only $5 for non-members, $3 for members or $8 for a wristband giving unlimited Dino Discovery admission, train and carousel rides and foam zone access.

Throughout $5 Fun Days, visitors can learn how the Birmingham Zoo and other Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA) accredited institutions use animal enrichment activities to encourage natural behaviors displayed in the wild. These stimulating activities create challenging environments to help keep the animals mentally and physically fit. Guests will be able to see African wild dogs use their hunting instincts to tear into piñatas, spider monkeys search for hidden food and the Zoo’s African bull elephants toss watermelons. Additional activities include a chance to get up-close and personal with the animals at the daily Boma and Rhino Encounters or partake in animal-themed bingo games. Visitors can also view special animal training demonstrations, participate in animal feedings, chat with the keepers and much more.

During $5 Fun Days, the Zoo will be open from 9am to 7pm for extended summer hours.
