FREE Zoo Admission - Party for the Planet Earth Day Celebration

9 am to 7 pm


The Birmingham Zoo invites the community to enjoy FREE admission on Sunday, April 20, 2008, from 9 am to 7 pm for the Party for the Planet Earth Day Celebration.

In addition to free admission, visitors will be able to take part in several FREE activities and shows taking place throughout the day including FREE train and carousel rides, Sea Lion Splash Shows, special animal keeper talks throughout the day, story time, educational animal shows in English and Spanish (provided by KPI Latino) and much more.

The event, part of a nationwide celebration with Animal Planet, Geico, and the Association of Zoos and Aquariums, will help visitors discover ways to make a difference in conservation and improve the environment on local, national and global levels.

 

Butterfly Encounter - Season Opening April 19th!

Sponsored by First American Bank
10 to 4 pm daily, weather permitting

The 3,000-square-foot botanical exhibit sponsored by First American Bank features hundreds of butterflies of more than 20 species, all native to Alabama.

Time to Pitch Camp!

Make summer plans for your little traveler today! Travel the world with Zoofari Camp 2008. Each day campers will “travel” to a new place in the world to learn about the animals that live there. Behind-the-scenes tours, crafts, games, animal demonstrations, and activities will all be included in this week long camp. Campers will also receive snacks, carousel and train rides.
