Party for the Planet Earth Day Celebration this Saturday!

Come celebrate the third rock from the sun! From 11-2 pm, join us in the ZooEd classroom in the Children’s Zoo for activities, crafts and face painting. Also, children receive a free face mask, temporary tattoos and wildflower seeds (while supplies last). Learn how you can help save our planet! Special animal enrichment demonstrations will take place throughout the day (see daily schedule in map for times of animal demos).

Join us every Friday at 10 am on Grandma’s Back Porch for a story about a Zoo animal, craft and special animal encounter! Runs through September 28.

International Migratory Bird Day

Be a bird watcher for a day! We’ll share some of the species that pass through Birmingham on their annual migration as well as migratory species in our collection. Learn how your Zoo is protecting these animals and how you can put a feather in your conservation cap! Crafts and activities will be throughout the day.

2nd Annual Zoo Run

Attention runners of all ages! Make your way to the Birmingham Zoo on May 11 as Food World presents the 2nd Annual Zoo Run: Stampeding for Wild Elephants. This fun night will feature a 5K run and kids’ fun run. All proceeds will benefit the International Elephant Foundation. Over $10,000 was raised last year! Full Moon Bar-B-Que’s Post Race Party will take place after all races. Register today!
