About the Volunteer Program

Are you enthusiastic about community service, animal science, and wildlife conservation?

Apply to join the Volunteer Program at Your Birmingham Zoo, and make an impact on guest engagement, conservation education, research science, and animal care!

Engaging with zoo guests by offering assistance and information, facilitating extraordinary zoo experiences, and helping at a variety of special events. Once in the program, volunteers also have the opportunity to apply and interview for positions in other aspects of the zoo’s operations including animal care, horticulture, education, and leadership roles within the Volunteer Program.

There are a number of ways to get involved with Volunteering at the Zoo. This program is designed to allow volunteers to engage in the activities that they are passionate about. In addition to supporting Birmingham Zoo as a conservation organization, volunteer roles at the Zoo encourage continued learning and skill building through state of the art trainings and real world experience.

Birmingham Zoo Volunteer Program is proud to be debuting new trainings and opportunities for 2023!
