Travel the world with Zoofari Camp 2008! Each day campers will “travel” to a new place in the world to learn about the animals that live there. Behind-the-scenes tours, crafts, games, animal demonstrations, and activities will all be included in this week long camp. Campers will also receive snacks, carousel and train rides.

Time: 8:30 am—12:30 pm Monday through Friday.

Cost: $150.00 per student per week for members
$175.00 per student per week for non-members

For students entering 4K through 8th grade:
We will be using books from the Adventures of Riley for our world exploration. A great way to explore the world!

For students entering the following grades:
4K:
Animal Explorers - Explore the zoo in search of animals from around the world! Each day campers will search for animals that live on a specific continent. They will then learn about what these animals eat, where they sleep and how they interact with other animals.

5K/1st: Animal Discoverers -Discover the biomes of the world at this zoo camp! Campers will travel the zoo in search for different habitats and the animals that live in them! Campers will learn about adaptations these animals have for surviving their habitat, what they eat, and how they interact with one another.

2nd/3rd: Animal Investigators - During this camp, campers will be investigating the zoo in search of the mystery biome of the day! Clues will be given throughout the day to lead campers to the correct biome. Campers will learn about the biome, what animals live there and how these animals survive during this camp.

4th/5th/6th: Animal Researchers - Each day campers will be given a list of facts about a specific biome, as a team they will work to figure out what biome it is and what animals live there. Throughout the day campers will learn about the biome, such as what it looks like, and what animals could be found there. They will also learn about what the animals eat, how they hide, and where they sleep.

6th - 8th: ZooKeeper Camp - Each day campers will spend their time with a ZooKeeper learning about animal husbandry. They will learn about the care and feeding of animals, animal behavior, animal training, and other necessary and important aspects of taking care of animals at the zoo. These campers will work in the barn and Alabama Wilds areas. They will work with a ZooKeeper to learn the basics. This is a working camp. Please note that space is limited and campers will be in contact with the animals and will be required to follow directions. Special release forms will be required to be signed before these campers will be allowed to attend this camp. Monday’s time is 8:30 am to 12:20 pm. Tuesday through Friday is 7:30 am to 12:20 pm. We understand if you are unable to arrive at 7:30 am but to benefit from this experience it would help to be able to arrive at 7:30 am. Please wear closed toed working shoes, khaki pants, t-shirts are distributed on Monday morning. Please bring a water bottle.

All Camper Grades: Aftercare: 12:30 pm to 5:30 pm: You must register in advance to ensure that your camper has a spot. Space is limited. $40.00 per Session per week for members and $50.00 per session per week for non-members. Session A: Hours are 12:30 pm to 3:15 pm. Any child still in aftercare at 3:16 pm will be placed in and charged for Session B. Session B: Hours are 3:16 pm to 5:30 pm. ($1.00 for each minute past 5:30 pm for members and $2.00 per minutes for non-members). Lunch is $20.00 per camper per week. We have a refrigerator for those that would like to bring their own lunch. Please indicate your camp session, the dates you would like to attend, and the lunch choice.
