Cost:
$175 for members and $200 for non-members per camper each week. (Discounts for second and third child campers available when registered online.)

Lunch is not available with this camp. Mid-morning snacks are provided.
Please bring your membership card to get your member discount. All children must be covered by the Birmingham Zoo membership to get the discount.
Camp Details:
This is a working camp and zookeeper campers will learn the basics of animal husbandry. This will include learning about animal nutrition, care, and feeding, what makes a mammal a mammal, a bird a bird, and a reptile a reptile.
Activities include: hoof trimming, water quality testing, nail and beak trimming, weight management, sheep and llama coat care, perching for birds, feeding snakes, lizards, and tortoises, UV lighting, barn preparation, haltering and walking animals, animal training, and much more.
Campers need to wear closed shoes (such as tennis shoes or working boots), shorts (6” inseam) or pants, we will provide 2 camp t-shirts for each camper, and campers may bring a backpack.
Appropriate clothing and behavior is required of all campers in this camp. Campers will be working around live animals and must be able to follow directions at all times.
Please bring your membership card to get your member discount. All children must be covered by the Birmingham Zoo membership to get the discount.
Refunds or Transfers: If you need to cancel or transfer to another session, call or email the Education Department as soon as possible. A refund minus a $25 processing fee will be issued if the request is at least 2 weeks before the campers session. When possible, we will transfer a camper to another session, although transfer requests cannot be guaranteed. Confirmation Letters will be sent by email only.
