Art Camp: Go on special behind-the-scenes tours, make art, & see animals up close and personal while making new friends. Camp also includes: snacks, carousel, and train rides.
June 7th to July 23 - Grade 6-8
ZooKeeper Camp: This is a working camp and zookeeper campers will learn the basics of animal husbandry. This will include learning about animal nutrition, care, and feeding, what makes a mammal a mammal, a bird a bird, and a reptile a reptile. Demonstrations will occur with hoof trimming, substrate for different animal bedding, water quality testing, heat lamps, nail and beak trimming, weight management, sheep and llama coat care, perching for birds, feeding snakes, lizards, and tortoises, UV lighting, barn preparation for the animals, animal observation skills, how to halter and walk animals, what quarantine is, animal health care, animal training for natural behaviors and healthcare, making animal enrichment and cutting browse, explanations on animal digestive systems, and much more.

Amazing Animals: Past and Present: Discover unique animals such as a sloth, cassowary, and wombat. Learn about mysterious creatures of the past. Unearth fossils and dig up fun facts about our extraordinary animals.
June 7-11 or July 5-9 - Grades 4K-1
Feathers, Scats, and Tracks: Discover how to be an animal tracker. Learn to identify birds, animal tracks, and scats (animal poop). See how these help you learn about animals in the wild, their environment, and how they interact.
June 21-25, June 28-July 2, July 19-23, or August 2-6 - Grades 4K-1
Zoo Olympics: Learn about animal athletes (the fastest, tallest, and best jumpers) at the Zoo. Then go out and compete against their records. Do you have what it takes to be an animal athlete?

Cost:
$150 for members and $175 for non-members per camper each week. (Discounts for second and third child campers available when registered online.)

Lunch is not available with this camp. Mid-morning snacks are provided.
Please bring your membership card to get your member discount. All children must be covered by the Birmingham Zoo membership to get the discount.
Refunds or Transfers: If you need to cancel or transfer to another session, call or email the Education Department as soon as possible. A refund minus a $25 processing fee will be issued if the request is at least 2 weeks before the campers session. When possible, we will transfer a camper to another session, although transfer requests cannot be guaranteed. Confirmation Letters will be sent by email only.
